Kuta

Perhaps the ideal compromise in southern Bali is the community called Kuta. It is the 10 kilometer stretch along the ocean from the airport and the area of Tuban. Here, resorts have settled quietly alongside local villages without any disturbing effect on the people who life in them. Signs along the streets are restrained. Down's meandering gangs (lanes) are temples where offerings are made daily. Yet, for all of the area's relative tranquillity, the excitement of Legian are within walking distance. There are not many private villas in this area considering the large number of resorts , small hotels and cheap accommodation. This area is very crowded, and is well know for its surf's spots, shops, Water Bom and Hard Rock hotel and Cafe'. Detailed Map

Jimbaran Bay

Jimbaran Bay, located at the northern end of the Bukit peninsula and just minutes south of the airport, is another tourism area of growing importance. The bay itself forms a backdrop to a broad sweeping crescent of beach that is one of Bali's best. Rising behind the beach is a range of low hills. Three of the island's most up market resort hotels are already located here(Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Intercontinental) with more to follow in the future. Yet the Jimbaran area is likely to remain far less crowded than Kuta or Legian, thanks to more comprehensive planning by local authorities. Is only 10 minutes from Airpot and Kuta , and 20 minutes from Nusa Dua and it Golf Course. Jimbaran is famouse for its well known sea food beach restaurants. Detailed Map

Nusa Dua

Bali's largest enclave of luxury resort hotels is in Nusa Dua, a carefully planned district on the eastern rim of the Bukit peninsula., which hangs off the southern end of Bali almost like a teardrop. Planning for Nusa Dua began in the 1970s, with the first hotels opening in the mid -1980s. Each of the eight hotels in operation along a single stretch of immaculate beach is surrounded by extensive grounds lush with foliage. It is even possible to stroll from one hotel to another along broad walkways (though the beach route is more direct). There are no roving souvenir vendors on the streets of Nusa Dua, and very felon the beach, because they are excluded under the terms of the much admired Nusa Dua plan. Detailed Map

Ubud

About an hour north of Denpasar lies Ubud , which has developed quite a reputation over the last half century as a place to experience "the real Bali ". ubud first came to word to world attention in the 1930s, when several European artists settled there. It is no longer the sleepy hamlet it was even a decade ago.Craft shops now line both sides of the main street and even stretch all the way down Monkey Forest Road. Ubud, though, remains a far quieter place than Kuta or Sanur because there is a less traffic and lost shady trees. Ubud is traditionally the home of a distinctive Balinese painting style. Detailed Map
